Documents required for DSC Application
Getting Digital signature certificate(DSC) is very crucial in order to do private limited company registration within the proper time frame. Normally, it takes around 1-2 weeks for company registration but it can increase due to delay in submission of proper documents. As part of private limited company registration, DSC is required for signing MCA forms, filling GST returns, trade mark registration etc.Therefore, it is important to apply for DSC while doing private limited company registration. The required documents for DSC are as follows:
1. Proof of Identity (Any One):
- Identity Proof – Voter ID/ Passport/ Driving License
2. Proof of Residence (Any one of the following documents):
- Aadhar Card/Voter Identity Card /Driving License /Electricity Bill /Telephone Bill /Bank Account Statement signed by bank/Property Tax receip
Note: Bank Statements, Utility Bills like telephone, electricity bill etc furnished as residence proof should be in the applicant’s name and not older than three months.
3. Photograph :
- One high resolution colour passport size photograph of the applicant will be required. The photograph should be in JPEG format
4. Kindly fill the below table for each of the applicants :

5. Video Verification:
- At least 10 seconds video of person applying for DSC saying that “I, “Name of applicant” have applied for class 2 Digital signature”.
Where can we use Class 2 digital signature certificates ( Discontinued ) ?
This signature is used for IncomeTax Returns e-filing, MCA 21 & ROC, LLP, TDS Certificates, VAT Returns, ePF Claims.
- Since e-filing has been made mandatory in ROC, every Director or the signing authority needs to have its Digital Signature Certificate.
- It is now compulsory to obtain a Class 2 certificate with PAN encryption for a person who is authorized to sign manual documents and file returns with the ROC.
- It is also mandatory for a person to obtain a Class 2 certificate with PAN encryption for filing his Income Tax return in India.
Where can we use Class 3 digital signature certificates?
A Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate is of the highest level as it is issued only after the registrant’s identity verification has been carried out by a Registration Authority.
- A Class 3 certificate is an upgrade to the Class 2 certificate which is discontinued.
- In order to participate in online auctions or submit e-tenders online, an individual must possess a Class 3 certificate.
- Without a Class 3 certificate, one cannot submit e-tenders or participate in online auctions.
